PREVIEW: ADVANCED SCREENWRITING

How do you write an advanced script?
Advanced scripts aren't just better written than standard scripts. They handle the key structure steps in very different ways.

One of these steps has to do with the main character. You cannot write an advanced script without a main character of vast capability to make the stakes hit home.

This is why advanced scripts often have what is known as the "great-souled hero," the man or woman with tremendous potential who fails to fulfill it, goes bad in the process or undergoes profound growth.

These are some versions of the great-souled hero:

1. the natural aristocrat: the character who stands above others by natural talent, bearing, dignity and mission

2. the powerful personality: the character whose personality can move people, usually good with words

3. the person of passion: someone who believes strongly - who live and loves hard

4. the visionary - if the character cannot make a radically different and better future, they are not a powerful character
