Carpet Brothers is a mockumentary following Skip, Xavier and Paul Raylon, just after their beloved father passes away and leaves them his store, Carpet Galaxy. Unbeknownst to the brothers, the store has been drowning in debt for some time, and the area's biggest businessman, Raymond Davies Allan, has set his sights on the store.
What sets this web series apart, other than the untapped arena of discount carpet store, is the eclectic writing and visual style. Created by Matt Piedmont for the 60Frames website, Carpet Brothers is set in an era of its own, with jokes and dialogue somewhat reminiscient of a Wes Anderson film. It's amazing how a little creative production design and camera work will make a web video stand out from the thousands or milions out there.
Of course, getting a couple of big names - this series stars Tim Meadows as one of the brothers, and David Spade as opponent Allan - doesn't hurt. But more than the talent or visual style, the inventive storylines are what make Carpet Brothers worth coming back for new episodes. In one show, the brothers become prima-donnas when they must hit the studio to record a new, catchy jingle for their radio promos. 60Frames has some hits and misses, but this show is worth checking out.
