Joss Whedon is the master of bending genre rules to create completely new sub-genres all of his own. He did this with the Horror / Teen Comedy Buffy the Vampire Slayer, followed by his Sci-Fi / Western Firefly.
With production halted during the writers' strike, Joss got together with his brother Jed and Jed's fiancée, Maurissa to create yet another genre-blended mega hit. The result was the new 3-part web series Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Taking elements of the Action, Love, Fantasy and Musical forms, the Whedons gave life to the most pitiful and lovable super-villain yet: Dr. Horrible. Or, Billy, as his friends call him.
The series was so popular that the website's server crashed the morning that part I was launched!
True to his own form, Joss still manages to deliver a funny yet emotional story full of twists. Those who really know Whedon's style might see the ending coming, but even so, it's shocking… and devilishly clever.
